Berhampore Girl's College
Berhampore Girls' College was established in 1946. It is the first government sponsored college in the state of West Bengal. The institution was founded by Smt. Amiya Rao, an eminent scholar and wife of the then District Collector Sri B.G.Rao, as a seat for the advancement of women’s education and uplift in this predominantly agricultural and backward belt of the state. Founded in 1946 in Murshidabad district, Berhampore Girls’ College is the first Government Sponsored Girls’ College in the state of West Bengal. Since its inception, the Institution has dedicated itself to expanding and sharing its knowledge with the society. It is in a continuous process of inspiring innovation and preserving cultural and scientific information for future generations. Our College is known as one of the most intellectual colleges in the state and regarded for its high standard of scholarly practices and creative thinking.

Students pursue the Bachelor of Arts and Science degrees in 20 Honours and Major subjects. Institution also offers a post-graduate program leading to Maters of Arts degree in Bengali. College Faculty and students form a community dedicated to serious and open intellectual quest where spontaneous participation is observed regardless of religion, age, gender and socio-economic status.
